Melanie Charles
Melanie Charles is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter actress and flutist of Haitian heritage. A 2016 graduate of The New School for jazz and Contemporary Music, she has toured the US and abroad with various projects including Atlantic Recording artist Laura Izibor, Italian Guitarist/producer Nicola Conte, and Brooklyn based band People's Champs. After releasing a strong collaborative sophomore album under the name 'Rat Habitat' with guitarist Jordan Peters (Lauryn Hill), Melanie aka D'flower now emerges with a solo experience using a Roland SP 202 to create a Chaka Khan meets Badu-esque "sonic collage" fusing RnB, jazz, and Haitian folk songs.
Melanie Charles will be accompanied by Cinque Ubangi Kemp on drums (Jojo Abot, Hypnotic Brass Band, Reggie Watts)
